Tips for Aurora Viewing in the Faroe Islands
Weather flexibility is everything. The Faroese weather changes constantly. What starts as a cloudy evening can clear dramatically, and vice versa. Check the Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI) forecast frequently and be prepared to change plans on short notice. Having a car allows you to drive toward clear skies — the islands are small enough that you can traverse them quickly.
Rent a car. Public transportation in the Faroes is limited, especially at night. A rental car is essential for aurora hunting, allowing you to reach dark locations and chase clear skies.
